10 years later

There will be a million blogs today.

For what it is worth, I watched from a pub just off Golden Square in London, on the phone to my wife at home in Wales. I was COO of a London based VC that was trying to raise a new fund in the US. 9/11 killed the fund. It was a truly shocking day.

I remember.

  1. It was kind of like the scene of a car wreck all day for me; I couldn’t help but watch all the coverage. There were many things I hadn’t seen before because our kids were 2 and 5 at the time and we avoided watching the coverage in 2001 so they wouldn’t see it. As I said to my husband last night, it changed everything for us, for America, maybe even some parts of the world. We grew up that day and a lot of the innocence and naivete in pursuit of our dreams was lost, both personally and professionally.

    He’s an airline pilot. I was in high tech telecom. Looking back, we both agree the industries, aviation and high tech, have never fully come back.
